With this last Newsletter of 2007, we should like to thank you for your continued interest in the Institute and its activities.
We also take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

EDEN Doctoral Seminars

"The education and development of European Management scholars, scientists and teachers" ? this has been and is one of the top priorities of EIASM.

More than 200 doctoral students have participated this year in our EDEN Doctoral seminars. A lot of learning, a lot of exchange and networking.

What have we achieved this year?

  • 3 new seminars have been launched
    - Competitive Strategy which ran at Insead last February
    - Special Eden Doctoral Seminar on Research Paper Writing Skills And Methodology Development which was held in Palanga, Lithuania in July 2007.
    - A new challenging Doctoral Track in the area of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
This doctoral track has started with an intensive EDEN seminar on Methods, Techniques and Theories in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Brussels in December 2007
It will be followed by 2 doctoral Tutorials in 2008 and 2009 which will give the participants the opportunity to present the intermediate results and  the near final results of their own research project/paper to leading peers.
  • The EDEN network has confirmed itself as being the unique European resource for enhancing doctoral education in all areas of Management Sciences.
  • EDEN ?s ongoing contribution as a great learning and networking platform.

2008 is at the doorstep and looks already to be a challenging year.

Workshop on Architecture and Social Architecture : Disturbing Notions of Structure in Organizations.
Brussels, May 15-16, 2008

This workshop seeks to explore a notion of organizational structure which gives primacy to an architectural perspective. In recent years, organizational scholars have given attention to ways of conceiving space in organizations. However, little attention has been given to the influence of architecture on organizations and social behaviour in the context of architectural spaces. There are some notable exceptions to this. Recent work by Burrell and Dale makes a very specific contribution to this field and work by inter alia Eräsaari, Kostera, Kreiner, Lindqvist, Sievers, Strati, Warren and Weiskopf has all contributed in different ways to an understanding of the relationship between architecture and social architecture. However, there has been no coherent focus for these strands of work.

This workshop seeks contributions which will examine the relationship between architecture and the organizational context which offer new perspectives on organizational behaviour and theory.

The submission deadline is February 10, 2008.  (see web workshop site for details)
